Our Story
Building a home for improvisational music in the heart of Southern Nevada.
Our Mission
The Las Vegas Jam Band Society exists to create a more supportive and vibrant music community in Southern Nevada for artists in the Jam Band genre. Our goal is to educate ourselves and the community through grassroots promotions and concert events, fostering an expanded understanding and exposure to improvisational music.
We believe in transcendence through music. Together, we can introduce more people to the magic of this music and the musicians who play it, making Southern Nevada a national destination for quality live music and enhancing our community’s cultural value.
From Desert Dream to Rock-Solid Reality
In the late 1990s, the Las Vegas music scene was a different landscape. While the city glittered, fans of improvisational rock and jam bands often found themselves in a musical drought, relying on the efforts of a few dedicated individuals to bring their favorite music to town. A small group of motivated music lovers, however, had a brilliant idea: instead of waiting for promoters, why not build the scene themselves?
This was the birth of the Las Vegas Jam Band Society. It began with a simple thought: “we simply wanted music and we wanted to see the bands that we wanted to see.” This grassroots philosophy—pooling resources through a modest membership fee—allowed the society to take the financial risks that traditional promoters wouldn’t, bringing in mid-level organic roots rock bands and laying the foundation for something much bigger.
“A wise man once warned that building on sand would cause a foundation to be weak. But nothing could be farther from the truth for a group of motivated music lovers in the sandy desert the City of Sin calls home… By taking the place of would-be dollar pinching promoters, members of The Las Vegas Jam Band Society have constructed a rock-solid structure of success in an arena where few previously had even thought of venturing.”
