Jam Band Society
Members’ Meeting Minutes
October 7, 2014
Meeting Begins: 7:43PM
President’s Report (Greg):
“Oh, I was late…we should probably
get started!”
Status quo, everything is good, let’s trudge
on….
Jenny was asked to email with Brooklyn Bowl’s
“new” Sameen (Christy Nelson) to go
over the procedures of advertising for tickets,
to help justify our collaboration with the Brooklyn
Bowl. (Sameen is going back to her other duties
with the Brooklyn location.)
Our current advertising help has been done through:
Yahoo mail list, Facebook, Twitter, email links,
at our events, meetings, and various contests/raffles.
Discussion of the comp’d tickets as a ‘donation’
for the return of marketing help (fliers, etc.),
or rather a ‘Sponsorship of’ was had.
The possibility of an ‘Internship’
(AKA a Volunteer to work, as a separate entity,
in exchange for tickets) may be a future discussion/need.
For the upcoming ‘Phil & Friends’
shows (Oct. 17-18) & the Phil Lesh & the
Terrapin Family Band (Oct. 19), there will probably
be 10 tickets to share amongst the members.
Vice President’s Report (John): An Officers’
Meeting was had since our last meeting. The edited
letter which the Officer’s (& other
volunteers) will take around to businesses and
companies, explaining our ‘motto’
and aim to help with music education, is now ready
for printing and hand-out. The goal is to have
3 tries/reminder calls to the dropped-off letter’s
location before ‘moving on’ to the
next try.
The sold-out moe. show at the Hard Rock Live,
will have an LVJBS table. It was discussed that
the table volunteer would possibly earn free entrance
in exchange for their volunteering, the whole
evening. (Because of the amount of tickets sold,
this is NO longer the case. The Table-Volunteers
will be sharing the duties (per hour) and must
have a ticket for the show already. The Volunteer-email
will be sent soon. (Thanks in advance!)
Treasurer’s Report (Dan):
We have liquid assets. J
Discussion of the ‘Membership Management
Software’ that’s been being looked
into was had.
Secretary’s Report (Jessica):
We will begin our 2015 Officer nominations tonight
before ‘Open Floor’. There will also
be a nomination email sent out with instructions
on how to nominate, ensuring two different, current
Officers receive the Nomination, so notes can
be compared. Confirmation & acceptance of
Nomination at the November meeting and the Voting/Election
in December.
Mayor’s Report (Jenny): Color: The ‘F’
Bomb: FreakyFromholdFuquaFornoff
*A Gift Basket, with gratitude and thanks, was
presented to the Brooklyn Bowl’s Sameen,
for their kindness to the LVJBS.
*Been working on gathering the members’
data and having it updating for ease of contacting,
when needed.
*Discussion of a magnet or window-sticker to give
to members and include it the ‘LVJBS Welcome
Letter’.
*We have discussed a ‘new member get together’
in recent months. Since December is soon, we will
look into making the “Friends & Family”
event a ‘Holiday’ event with Members’
kids. More info TBA.
Fundraising Committee (Kathy): We had discussed
having a ‘Silent Auction’ or a ‘Raffle’
for the signed moe. guitar that we hope to have
on display. Regardless of the decision, someone
will need to be at the table regardless. (Thoughts:
Raffle Sales usually have more ‘spur of
the moment’ sales & the ‘Silent
Auction’ may have more ‘last minute’
mind changes or lack of funds, causing more chaos/work
than simply pulling a lucky-winner.)
The donated cello that we had is being repaired,
so it can go to a needy Middle School, here in
Clark County. J
Production Report (Greg):
