Members’ Meeting Minutes
January 6, 2015
Meeting Begins: 7:33PM
President’s Report (Greg):
“Obviously…the first meeting of the
New Year! We’ll start the year with a great
first show in February.”
*We have, from the UK, The New Mastersounds with
openers, Moksha, on Monday, February 9th @ The Hard
Rock Live (strip). (Members will have a chance for
one of the ten comp’d tickets.)
*The good folks with PIRATE FEST has made contact
with us once more for another collaboration. More
info TBA.
*Questions have been asked about the ‘String
Cheese Incident’ ‘member guarantee’
ticket offer from The Brooklyn Bowl. Those 2015
Members who were ‘shut out’ of the SCI
onsale, for the Friday/Saturday shows will be on
a ‘Will-Buy’ list, at the door. More
details TBD.
Vice President’s Report (Kathy):
“Not much to say—Wants to get together
with the former VP, John T., to help to carry on
his good work in 2014. I am proud to be the VP for
2015.”
(“It is a ‘Doobious’ honor,“
says the President.)
Seretary’s Report (Jessica):
Happy New Year!
The festive, new 2015 notebook-binder is ready for
transcribing the monthly minutes. The minutes ‘should’
be posted each month within 48hrs. and ‘no
later’ than 1 week. They are posted to the
LVJBS Yahoo! Group & soon updated to the website,
under the ‘members’ tab. J
Treasurer’s Report (Paige—via Dan):
The transferring of the info & the books will
be done with Paige. We do have ‘liquid assets’.
There is a new ‘Membership’ system for
ease of paying dues:
(John): NEW MEMBERSHIP LINK , on our website, will
allow people to become members with a few clicks
& by adding credit card info and personal info.
Those who pay ‘manually’ by giving cash/checks
to the ‘Treasurer’, will also expect
an email to be completed/returned for the additional
‘personal’ information (name/email/phone/address/birthday,
etc.).
(Justin G. mentioned & will get us more information
on the VENMO site/program, which will help with
the information/members.)
Mayor’s Report (Frobi (absent) via Jessica):
Couldn’t make tonight’s meeting, but
will be sure to pay his Officer’s dues when
He sees an Officer next.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Fundraising Committee (John via Kathy):
There will be a table at the Feb. NEW MASTERSOUNDS
show. It was decided that a 50/50 Raffle for cash
be done this time, instead of a Raffle. (Half would
go to the winner and half back to LVJBS for the
Fundraising Committee.)
Archive Committee (RJ/Fred via Kathy)
--The files were recently moved over to the Gutzat’s
home, from the Fuqua’s. Fred has been happily
enjoying these memories. It was suggested that any
posters/items signed by bands for Raffles, etc.,
be done in two, so one set goes to the Archive for
safekeeping and memories. (Any bands that return,
we may bring back a past poster and have them sign
again to add to the file.)
--An LVJBS 15-year anniversary party/show with the
items on display was discussed. Group enjoys this
idea for a future evening of great memories.
PR Committee (Jenny):
Happy New Year!
--Discussed having a gathering for the new Members
of 2015 to get together. Group suggests it be the
FEBRUARY FRIENDS & FAMILY event. Jenny offered
to handle next month’s event. Ideas: Seeing
a local band such as Moanin’ Blacksnakes at
one of their events, or The Signals at Jalisco’s,
etc. More info TBA.
PRODUCTION REPORT (GREG):
CONTACTS/booked shows:
*GOLDEN GATE WINGMAN contacted us. They are various
members of ‘Phil & Fiends, Dark Star Orchestra,
Furthur, & RatDog. The weekend they want conflicts
with the BUSY February- month of music: two days
before the New Mastersounds and one week before
the String Cheese Incident weekend. Group thinks
their ‘price request’ could be a dangerous
move, so we will connect them with the Brooklyn
Bowl and happily attend, if it’s booked there.
*THE DIRK QUINN BAND, once again, contacted about
‘Freako de Mayo’. (Group is unsure if
this annual event will occur due to the UM Bowl,
with Umphrey’s McGee the weekend of May 1-3.)
More info on Freako de Mayo TBD.
*SCOTT PEMBERTON TRIO email was sent to the Yahoo!
Group with attached links. Many members enjoyed
what was heard from this Portland, OR band and supports
this. They are interested in Sat., March 14th. Group
thinks this may work at the Hard Rock Café
(Paradise), Vinyl, or possibly The Bunkhouse, since
that date looks open for those venues. More info
TBD.
*CHICAGO AFROBEAT PROJECT will be in town around
March 21-22. Group (sadly) thinks this is too close
to other planned shows.
*TURQUAZ went ahead and contacted the Brooklyn Bowl
for their Tuesday, January 13th request. This will
be a FREE show.
*The REVEREND PEYTON’S BIG DAMN BAND will
be at the Beauty Bar on March 29th.
*EMINENCE ENSEMBLE will play after our February
Members’ Meeting on WEDNESDAY, February 4th
@ The Hard Rock Café, Paradise.
OPEN FLOOR:
*The LVJBS January Friends & Family Event (hosted
by Ian) will be a FUNdraiser dinner at the 215/Flamingo,
SWEET TOMATOES, soup/salad/pizza/potato bar from
5pm-8pm. 15% of the ‘gross’ funds will
go back to the LVJBS with the provided flier. See
an Officer for a flier or Ian for more info. WEDNESDAY,
JANUARY 21st.
*Wednesday, January 21st is also ANDY FRASCO &
THE UN @ The Boulder Dam Brewery in Boulder City.
Members discussed carpooling to Boulder City after
getting their ‘Sweet Tomatoes’ on….
*Mike F. mentioned the Moby Grape tribute @ Tommy
Rockers (bands include: Fly-United and others.)
*Dustin mentioned the ADELPHI AMPITHEATER (45 min.
south of Las Vegas—past Nelson’s Landing,
near Searhlight.) This is a camping area with festival-type
grounds. The LVJBS thinks this would be a fun, future
camping-event site.
*John gave a huge CONGRATS to Megan R. & Dave
B. on their recent engagement. (The group shares
this excitement and also gave our love to John T.
& Paige S. on theirs.) J
*Kathy welcomed her friends, RUTH & AL, who
are interested in becoming LVJBS members and becoming
involved. J
